expanding triplet repeat
Glossary of "Life (9th ed.)" by Sadava et al. (2011)
- A tree-base-pair sequence in a human gene that is unstable and can be repeated a few to hundreds of times. Often, the more the repeats, the less the activity of the gene involved. Expanding triplet repeats occur in some human diseases such as Huntington’s diseases and fragile-X syndrome.
