Glossary of "Environmental Science: Earth as a Living Planet (2nd ed.)" by Botkin & Keller (1998)

  • A logging method in which dead and less desirable trees are cut first; mature trees are cut later. This ensures that young, vigorous trees will always be left in the forest. It is an alternative to clear-cutting.
