- In regulatory systems, information that decreases a regulatory response, returning the system to the set point. (Contrast with positive feedback.)
Glossary of "Environmental Science: Earth as a Living Planet (2nd ed.)" by Botkin & Keller (1998)
- A type of feedback that occurs when the system’s response is in the opposite direction of the output. Thus negative feedback is self-regulating.
