Glossary of "Cladistics (2nd ed.)" by Kitching et al. (1998)
- The view of development that states that ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny and thus the ontogenetic sequence of an organism would be expected to pass through the stages found in the adults of its ancestors. Also known as the Biogenetic Law. See also recapitulatioin (von Baerian).
