解説

• モチノキ科の常緑高木．雌雄異株．
• しばしば庭木に用いられ，都市環境にも耐えることから街路樹として植えられることが多い．
• 「クロガネモチ」の和名が「金持ち」に通ずることから縁起木として植えられる．
• 東広島キャンパスでは広く植栽されており，本部周辺などで秋に赤い果実をたくさんつけた様子を観察することができる．
